Weekend Warriors

Well for the past 2 months we have been pouring concrete on the weekends, when we haven't had to go to work, go to get togethers, reunions, etc. We called ourselves weekend warriors because we pretty much only had time on weekends to work on it. David would usually form up the concrete late Friday night and then we would fine tune everything Saturday mornings and then David would go and get the mixer truck and yours truly was the one who got to get all the concrete off the truck. And then on Sunday we were so tired and sore. It was a lot of hard work, but we look back now and think it looks pretty good for a few amateurs, and think of the money we saved as do-it-yourselfers.

Pour #2 went to the gate Then pour #3 was a slab in front of our garage and then on another pour we stamped around the edge of the slab. (Don't you think David did a great job at stamping it, it was his 1st time.) We thought we would take a few pictures of the kids "helping" us. This was not the first time Trev. stepped in the wet concrete, but it was the last!

And here we are after the fact, still happily married.

Working together on projects can be very trying sometimes and we had our moments of arguing but I am so glad to have this project over and am thankful to David for helping me to see that just paying someone to do it, isn't always the answer. I now have extra money to use on my next project, landscaping!
